About Dave Felipe
Over the course of more than 20 years in public relations and corporate communications, Dave Felipe has been fortunate to work with everyone from elected officials, global leaders and Fortune 500 executives to award-winning artists and musical icons.
A New Jersey native, Dave’s career in PR began in Washington, D.C. at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, one of the world’s largest and most powerful lobbying organizations. At the Chamber, Dave engaged daily with Washington’s political and business press corps, while working regularly with members of Congress, Capitol Hill staff, policymakers, regulators and leaders from the business community. He also traveled extensively, conducting editorial board meetings with major newspapers across the country, spearheading publicity for Chamber events in the field and coordinating communications for the Chamber’s political program and the scores of congressional candidates endorsed by the organization each election cycle.
In 2007, Dave traded his D.C. address for one in the Big Apple. There, he worked first as a freelance publicist for an array of clients before joining a groundbreaking e-commerce company as its first-ever Director of Communications, all while simultaneously pursuing his own musical endeavors. As an indie singer/songwriter and recording artist, Dave had several songs placed in films and on TV and performed on the stages of such legendary New York venues as Kenny’s Castaways, The Bitter End and Arlene’s Grocery. He also booked many fellow artists at venues around the city and organized several successful benefit concerts featuring local musicians, including one that raised thousands of dollars for the Feal Good Foundation and its efforts to assist 9/11 first responders.
After a move to Nashville in 2013, Dave began channeling his fervent and lifelong passion for all things music into impactful work within the music industry. He spent more than six years as the Publicist for GRAMMY®-winning Nashville Symphony, where he helped elevate the organization’s profile and worked with Miranda Lambert, Kelsea Ballerini, Yo-Yo Ma, Steven Tyler, Roger Waters, Steve Earle and scores of other acclaimed artists across numerous musical genres. Dave also oversaw communications efforts for several special projects, among them the historic Violins of Hope Nashville initiative in 2018 and the Symphony’s nationally-recognized Accelerando music education program for students from traditionally underrepresented communities.
He then served as Public Relations Manager at the Mechanical Licensing Collective (The MLC), a nonprofit established by Congress to ensure songwriters, composers, lyricists, music publishers and other rightsholders receive all of the royalties they’re owed for streams and downloads of their music in the U.S.
An incurable news junkie, Dave spends most of his early weekend mornings reading op-eds, editorials, and columns from media outlets across the country and still keeps a very close eye on U.S. politics and elections. He is an avid traveler, a big-time soccer fan and counts Radiohead as his favorite band of all time. Dave lives in Nashville with his wife, daughter, dog and two cats.
